1911: Birth of Thanh Tinh, real name Tran Van Ninh, Vietnamese writer. His works include Di Giua Mot Mua Sen Dai (Through a Long Season of Lotus), Que Me (Maternal Village) and Chi va Em (Two Sisters).
1913: Leonardo Da Vinci’s painting Mona Lisa is recovered in Florence two years after it had been stolen from the Louvre in Paris.
